2022 July 14
We got a Supper Julie mango seed from the California Rare Fruit Growers Arizona Scion’s 2022 annual mango tasting meeting.
2022 July 15
The seed was dehusked and put in a 6” pot, tail just protruding above the soil, with a mix of big box potting mix and coconut core while a hole was prepared. The pot was placed under shade cloth outside.
2022 July 19
Moved the seed from the pot to a hole 3’ wide and 2’ deep where the backfill was amended with ~50% compost and one 50lb bag of play sand. The seed had germinated and had about an inch of root sticking out. It was planted with its tail just protruding above the soil on a slight mound about 3” tall.

Sprout emerged from the seed.

Growing quickly.

2022 August 15
Fertilized with 2/3 cups of Tony’s Magic Mix.

2022 September 12
Split 1⅝ oz of 11% iron chelate between 4 mango seedlings including this one.

2022 September 18
Foliar fed iron chelate at a rate of 0.7g iron per gallon of water (1.5 tsp of 0.11% iron chelate mixed in a quart of water).
2022 October 6
Foliar fed 2.3g of 13% manganese chelate in 1 quart of water at 6:30a (sunrise)

2022 October 7
One leaf looks like it is starting to die. Maybe it is from the manganese I applied yesterday? No other mangos that were treated with manganese looks like this.

2022 October 10
Foliar fed Greenlife’s foliar feed mixed 1 tablespoon per gallon plus a little bit of Soil Fertility Accelerator at 6:15am. I also applied SFA to the soil and watered it in.
2023 March 4
There was one freeze this year that I forgot to cover this plant. It looks like the stem was unharmed.

2023 May 29
Applied 0.5g of SFA, 7g of 14% Mn EDTA, 7g of 14% Zn EDTA, 4.5g of Fe DTPA in a gallon of AC run off water.
Applied 3.5lb of 90% agricultural sulfur covering a 5ft diameter circle around the plant.
Looks like it might be pushing new growth. 🤞
