Soaking Seeds Without Nicking

Soaked 10 seeds for at least 48 hours. They didn’t seem to swell. Then planted all the seeds in a 6 inch pot with a mix of potting soil and coconut core and placed under shade cloth.

2022 July 16

Nicked 10 seeds on the evening of July 16th and put them in a cup of water.

2022 July 18

By the evening of July 18th the seeds had swollen noticeably. They were all planted together in a 6” pot that evening and placed under shade cloth.

2022 August 31

Neither trial sprouted. I dug up the seeds and only the outer shell was left. The rest had rotted away. I have read that Tamarind seeds germinate in a matter of days. This makes me think the seeds I used were not viable.
