This is on the same plant as the first shoot. The firs shoot is nearly to my hip and this new one is maybe 4 inches long.

Nutrition: target PH 5.5 – 7 High nitrogen fertilizer with added iron. Ammonium sulfate to lower pH.

After scalping the grass I discovered that the runners had spread more than six feet from the original planting.

I decided that spending 45 minutes every month digging around this bamboo to be sure it doesn’t spread is not worth it. I dug it out and I’ll find some clumping varieties to try instead.
