Adjusting pH

Soil pH Trial (the “very basic soil” sample in this article is most like typical Phoenix soils).

Pelitized sulpher can be applied at 1,000-10,000 lb / acre to reduce pH.[1]

Iron

Not all chelates are the same. Use EDDHA in Phoenix because it is more effective at high pH.

Zinc

Zinc chelates

Don’t foliar feed Zn while plants are blooming.

Manganese

Choose EDTA chelated Mn formulations when mixing with glyphosate, as use of Mn oxide or Mn sulfate may reduce the efficacy of glyphosate.R

Magnesium

Epsom salts (MgSO4 • 7H2O) or magnesium sulfate, can be used as a magnesium foliar spray. Contains 9.8% magnesium and 13% sulfur.R Epsom salts work better in alkaline soils (high pH) than dolomitic lime.

Molasses

¼ teaspoon unsulfured blackstrap molasses in 1 quart water (1 teaspoon/gallon) for foliar spray.R

Gypsum

Humic Acid

Azomite

66% silica. Guaranteed analysis. Application rates.

For a mango tree, but also probably any fruit tree: A cup every 6 months 1st year. One cup per year 2-5. Supposedly after 5 years, you’ve got a lifetime supply in your soil.[1]
