I ordered 2 Atreano fig cuttings from F-Bennett on figbid.com.

2022 November 3

The cuttings arrived. I sterilized some vermiculite by heating it to 300°F. I disinfected them in hydrogen peroxide: 1 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide mixed with 2 cups of tap water. I dipped the cuttings in dip’n grow rooting hormone diluted 15x. I wrapped the top of the cuttings with plastic wrap (I didn’t have parafilm on hand). I put vermiculite in 4 inch wide bags and stuck one cutting in each bag and sealed them with rubber bands. I put the finished bags in a dark closet.

2022 November 21

The largest cutting has roots. A bud seems to be breaking on the second largest.

Roots had developed so I potted them.

I’ve been bringing these into the garage every night.

Only one cutting survived. I don’t know how it ended up so tilted in the pot…

This guy died from lack of water. Pots are hard…
