Storing Scions
Scions for many subtropical species can be wrapped in buddy tape, placed in a zipplock bag, and stored at 50F for several weeks or months.[1]
Grafting
Wrapping graft unions with Presco brand Texas flagging tape 1 – 3/16″ (the Texas logo one) is reported to yield very good results.R
Dormant scion wood for deciduous trees may be stored in the fridge in a zip lock bag with moist (no water should drip when squeezed) peat moss, saw dust, or news paper. Sterilizing the cuttings and the moistened media as well as not over wetting will help prevent mold forming in the bag.
Using inlay bark graft or chip budding in summer instead of cleft graft so that the rootstock can keep growing.
