Some time this summer, I planned 4 guamuchil seeds that I took home from a CRFG meeting last year.

2023 November 9

The tree seedlings that germinated seem to be doing well. I staked them today because they were falling over.

2023 November 18

Covered with frost cloth and put a string of C9 incandescent lights inside on a thermostat set to 45F.

2024 Jan 10

The lights heating these plants were the last strand in a series of 4 strings. I had forgotten about the warning on the packaging to not chain more than two strings together. Just after 10:30pm the fuse failed and all 4 strings of lights went out. By the morning the temperature had reached 24.2F. The Guamuchil trees seem to have sustained some damage, but it is too early to tell how much.

Two of the three seedlings didn’t die completely.
