Sumo Mandarin from seed

More info on this variety here.

2024 March 8

Bought a single fruit from the grocery as part of my lunch and it happened to have a seed in it. The seed was polyembryonic and the segments fell apart easily. There was one large and two small seed segments. I put them in a moist paper towel inside a zipplock back and put the bag on a heat mat set to 77F.

The seeds had nearly 1 cm radicals when I checked on them. I planted the germinated seeds in 4 inch x 12 inch tree pots filled with 100% lava cinders sand (1/4 minus).

2024 April 1

I noticed the first sprout today. It was from the large seed.
