My kumquat approach graft attempt failed so I took some bud wood home and tried a cleft and several chip buds.

2024 March 30

I put a cleft graft and 4 chip buds on the Macrophylla rootstock. I put 2 cleft grafts and 3 chip buds on my kaffir lime.

2024 May 24

All 3 cleft grafts have pushed and tried to flower. I removed the flower buds. All of the chip buds on the lime are still green. Some of the chip buds on the macrophylla seem to have failed but one of them is pushing. I didn’t do anything to force it except keep removing any new growth from the macrophylla.

I also tried a new method of forcing buds to grow for the chip buds on the lime tree. I cut through the bark just above the chip buds maybe a week ago. Now they all seem to be beginning to push new growth.
