I put 5 air layers on my guava tree on green wood just above where the bark was beginning to turn brown. I used sphagnum moss, Dip’n Grow diluted 15x, wrapped in plastic, secured with twist ties, and covered with aluminum foil shiny side out. The forecasted highs for the week are right around 110F.

One of the air layer has roots that are just poking through to the plastic.

I have not watered these at all. I have checked them regularly for moisture. It seems that as long as there are at least some condensation drops inside the plastic then the moss is moist to the touch.

2025 Jan 13

I removed the air layer with the most roots, stripped off all the leaves to prevent too much moisture loss, potted it and put it in a heated green house. I have added water to these twice.
