I bought 6 white sapote seeds from DeLuzFruits on Etsy for $14.11 including shipping and tax.

2024 September 5

I germinated these in a ziplock bag with moist paper towel on a heat mat. Then I potted them in a 4x4x12 inch tree pot filled with sand to sprout.

2024 October

I was worried about the tap root hitting the bottom of the pot so I planted 3 of them out in the yard when they were only 4 or 5 inches tall. It turned out that the root was only about as long as the plant was tall. They did great in the ground.

2024 November 8

Setup cold/frost protection. I put a circle of card board about 8 or 9 inches tall around each plant and surrounded them with wood chips. Used a string of C9 Christmas lights and bundled 6 or 7 lights together with a string for each plant. The lights are plugged into a ThermoCube temperature controlled outlet that turns on at 35*F and off at 45*F. Everything is covered with a piece of frost cloth.
