California Rare Fruit Growers: Arizona Scion

The California Rare Fruit Growers (CRFG) is a non-profit organization that focuses on sharing information about growing rare fruit.

The Arizona chapter (or scion) has a monthly meeting that is usually on the second Thursday of the month at the Valley Garden Center. These meetings start with a knowledgeable speaker talking on a particular subject. After the speaker is a social hour where people taste fruit that members have brought to the meeting, share seeds and cuttings, and discuss their problems and successes.

Also, twice a year their is a plant sale that serves as a fund raiser. You can find all sorts of plants there that are not available anywhere else in Phoenix along with expert instruction on how to care for them.

The best place I know of to find the schedule is this face book page which is not always up to date. You can also find the clubs email address here. They are usually very responsive and glad to answer questions about growing rare fruit in Phoenix!
